In life, we are constantly growing and shifting through different phases. Whether we like it or not, who we are today is different from who we were 5 years ago or who we will be 5 years from now. Of course that's not a bad thing at all (it's often a very good thing) as, continuously growing is what helps us become better friends, siblings, parents, people, etc...
Even though we're always growing and changing as people, it's easy for us to simplify the process by attaching growth to specific milestones. We can show up at our graduation and use that as a point where our lives drastically change, but in reality the change has been happening gradually for 4 (or more) years while we've been going through college or university.
All that being said, while we often attach milestones to growth, there are certain milestones that we reach, which help define how we are going to go forward with our lives. One such milestone is one that I reached recently and I am now lucky enough to be able to walk to and from work every single day. As of February 1st (already feels like a lifetime ago) I am now going to be spending my evenings/weekends relaxing at my new place in the Distillery district.
Going back to my statement about growth happening gradually, my life isn't as different as I thought it would be, well at least as the younger me would have thought it would be. I was already in the habit of paying bills, buying groceries/cooking for myself, etc, although now I'll be able to get a lot more sleep while doing so. Either way, it is definitely exciting to finally be out of Scarborough and in an area where I'll be able to get out a lot more, experience more new things and hopefully grow even more in the next year. I'm looking forward to what the next year has in store for me and I can't wait for what's ahead.
